- Corrosion protection for internal body panels, frame rails and structural enclosures
- Non-hardening material remains soft and pliable – will not crack, chip, or peel
- Use with 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus Applicator Wand Kit (sold separately) to ensure 360° coverage in closed cavities
- Convenient aerosol spray can eliminates need for bulk spray equipment
- Self-healing formula reflows into cracks and crevices for long-term coverage
- All OEMs recommend the application of internal anti-corrosion material during body repair, which includes cavity wax
3M™ Cavity Wax Plus 08852 is a non-hardening, self-healing corrosion protection coating for internal auto body panels and structural enclosures, as well as new replacement parts. It is designed to cover and seal internal joints, hem flanges and other areas where OEM e-coat may be compromised. It will not chip, peel or crack. Use the 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus Wand Kit for 360° coverage.
Protects Against Corrosion in Internal Automotive Panels
Developed specifically for corrosion protection on internal automotive panels and structural components, our 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus 08852 is formulated to coat and seal areas such as door skins, rocker panels, interior quarter panels and frame rails. It is excellent for use wherever OEM e-coat may be compromised during the repair process, as well as on new replacement parts. It is formulated for use on bare or primed automotive metals including steel and aluminum to protect critical interior joints, hem flanges and repair welds where moisture can form over time. The non-hardening internal corrosion protection material remains soft and pliable and will not crack, chip or peel.
Spray-on material applies quickly and easily from an aerosol can, and eliminates the need for bulk spray equipment. Use 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus with our 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus Applicator Wand Kit (PN 08851, sold separately) in hard-to-reach locations.
Access hard-to-reach places when applying corrosion protection coatings.
The Importance of Protecting Inner Cavities
No collision repair shop can match an OEM corrosion protection process (zinc phosphate baths, degreasers, DI water, heat-cured primers and sealers etc.). Also, the repair process itself — grinding, welding, heating or removal of protective coatings — can easily compromise OEM e-coats and create chances for corrosion.
When inner pockets and spaces of a vehicle go unprotected during collision repair, rust and other corrosion can develop and grow unnoticed. Inner cavities are also more likely to trap moisture that can encourage the development of corrosion, which can spread and cause serious damage to the vehicle and possibly the shop's reputation. With passenger vehicles increasingly staying on the road longer and heavy duty trucks often exceeding 1 million miles, it's especially important to incorporate effective corrosion protection into your repair process.
3M recommends applying three coats of 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus for adequate internal corrosion protection. In fact, all OEMs recommend the application of internal anti-corrosion material during body repair, which includes cavity wax.
About the 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus Applicator Wand Kit
Designed specifically for use with 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus 08852 aerosol cans, the applicator wand kit is very easy to use and consists of small-diameter wands in 8", 24" and 34" lengths. The 8" wand delivers a powerful stream of Cavity Wax Plus to flood and seal joints. The 24" and 34" wands allow easy access to tight spaces. They feature small integrated spray nozzles that deliver the material in a uniform 360° spray pattern to ensure maximum coverage. The wand kit helps you apply Cavity Wax Plus to all sides of internal rocker panels, dog legs, frame rails and other concealed places, and provides the correct flow and wicking for consistent and uniform protection.
The Science of Collision Repair Coatings from 3M
3M is constantly developing new ways to apply science to the lives of professionals in a range of industries including collision repair. Our 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus 08852 and 3M™ Cavity Wax Plus Applicator Wand Kit 08851 are great examples — our decades of knowledge in adhesives, coatings and protectants in easy-to-use spray components. The result: products that help you quickly and efficiently meet the recommendations of collision repair industry organizations and critical OEM specifications for corrosion protection in vehicle repair.
